Wedding

November 9, 2008

So we decided Wednesday to get married this weekend. Bill’s shows got canceled, I’m turning 30 and I have to get a new drivers license and we’d like to get joint car insurance it just worked out. So I called my friend Bre who is an ordained minister (a minister just for for the hell of it) and asked her if she was free sunday. So we paid $42 sweet dollars for a marriage license. Can i just ask why the hell we need one of those? License to what? To live together in the same house? To have sex? To procreate? To fight about who didn’t vacuum and why the dishes aren’t done? We did all of those things without a license so would we have been under arrest if an officer would have pulled our house and saw Bill sitting at the computer instead of mowing the lawn like he was supposed to?
Before giving you the license the make you raise your right hand and swear a bunch of shit but the only thing I remember is saying that we weren’t cousins (closer than 2nd) and that we didn’t have syphilis. Since when did that become law? If either one of us had aids or cancer that’s ok but they’ll be god damned if they will let any nasty ass people with syphilis get married. Out of the question. I didn’t think we were going to make it past the swearing and the whole time I was hoping I had the right hand up. You know I can’t tell right from left.
We gathered our friends and family and got married in our house. My friends came and lit candles and I made food. We had a short ceremony and we kept it very true to ourselves. We wrote our own short vows that made sense for us. We had champagne, lunch and cake. It was a really great day and the girls are really happy. It really meant a lot to them to be there and to finally feel like they have a real dad. It’s stability for them and they went to sleep 3 happy little girls.
I got to marry my best buddy and im a pretty happy lady.
